About me

Having lived in Cambridgeshire for 41 years, I am very aware of the issues that can arise from living in a rural area.  For the last 15 years I have lived in Haddenham, which is part of the Soham South and Haddenham Division.  My children went to school and onto further education in Cambridgeshire with the difficulties of travelling to and from colleges.  My daughter now lives in Soham and my son in West Sussex.
What I would like to see is change, which is why I have decided to stand for the election on May 4th.  I want see a County Council that cares about people, whether they are young or old.
I was a District Councillor on East Cambs Council for 12 years and I always enjoyed helping people in whatever situation they found themselves in.  Meeting them where they were.  Helping them fight bureaucracy.  Sometimes things are not just black and white, planning for instance, sometimes there is a grey area.  Fighting for those that are too afraid to speak out against injustice.
I am a Haddenham Parish Councillor, Deacon of Haddenham Baptist Church and Friend of Haddenham Library.  My main priorities on the County Council would be a high quality Social Care Services with proper funding.  Better road safety schemes which protect pedestrians and cyclists.  Support for schools and reliable affordable public transport across the County.
